Mother's Legacy (XV) piece 3/3

I have been wondering if a high percentage of visual artists are also musicians. As a child I was taught classical piano & classical guitar. This has evolved into jamming on keyboards & electric bass.

One day (at the Bauhaus) I heard a strange rhythmical stamping of feet. When I met Klee in the hallway I asked him: “Did you hear that odd noise just now?” He laughed & said: “Ah – did you notice? I was painting & suddenly, I don’t know why – I had to dance.” Georg Munche, artist & Bauhaus teacher

Hmmm, now that you mention it, I played trumpet for many years and then sang in a choir. Both of my daughters are artistic. One plays violin and the other plays flute.

Hi Emmie. Welcome. Thanks for the invite to your site. Keep up that guitar playing!

Hello Ed. Singing in choirs is fun. Learning to play instruments from your children is also fun...you have the opportunity to learn both violin & flute!!!

Thanks Philip. I like working in sets using those little canvas blocks.

Hi Angela. I'd like to be involved in an exhibtion where the visual artists also performed musically. We would need singers!

These Mother's Legacy paintings are my favourites.

It is interesting about the music and painting link ... it is something I have discussed before with other artists. I learnt classical piano as a child and still play but only for my own pleasure .. never in company! I also used to sing in various choirs and had lessons when young.

I think music and visual art are indeed very close and compliment each other in many ways.

But back to this set ... just love'em.

Hi Lesly. Thanks for taking time to comment. A lot of people are responding to this series.

I only understood how music worked after I was able to play chords on my guitar. I was 11 at the time. I thought to myself...I could play these chords on the piano...& so a piano jammer was born!
